The word "vacation" is synonymous with the summer season. Part of the joy comes from taking a break people get from work or school and spending time with people you love. As editor, Hadassa Haack from mb! Magazine describes it, there are two things that make you see a city in a completely new light: showing first time visitors around and going up in the air.
Melbourne-based photographer Tom Blachford has a taste for a minimal and clean aesthetic, which he showcases in his aerial photography of his hometown. From this perspective, summer activities that are energetic and noisy seem peaceful and artistic. As a viewer, I can appreciate the value of the outdoor life summer-goers have. Taking his skills to the air he says,
I saw another side to everything. Some buildings I would never think of shooting from the ground may have had incredible patterned roofs or arrays of panels that created amazing patterns. Some amazing buildings I love to shoot from the ground were a mess of cables and units from above. For more images (and even info on purchasing some!), check out Tom Blachford's Facebook, the article and his website!
