Star-print shirt: H&M Kids, Skirt: Forever 21, Boots: Asos, Accessories: Forever 21 hat, Karen Walker sunglasses, Mulberry x Target mini cross-body bag
This is one of the looks that caused style confusion for my husband. He saw me as I was about to walk out the door and asked, "does that go?" He was kindly referring to the star-print shirt and spot-print skirt mix. Admittedly, I questioned the mix myself but, I went with it. While a large reason for staying in this look was because I didn't have time to think about whether my outfit made sense and then change but, also because I clearly didn't mind the look when I put it on and walked out of the bedroom.
His reaction, although good-hearted, reminds me that there are times when we pick things to wear that may not be obvious to others. We make choices that appeal to our senses and that's what creates personal style. Sure we may not appeal to the masses all the time but, why do we have to? That's why I love to find and follow style bloggers. They create style from items we can all find and relate to (for the most part). I'm always inspired by the world around me and the blogosphere is no different for inspiration.
It definitely goes! I get that a lot at work, people don't get my style, but I am ok with that! I happen to love your outfit!
ReplyDeleteI think you can definitely pull this look off! I love how the black/blue hat ties it all together.

Haha I get a lot of those types of questions from my friends/roommates. Ah well, all about personal style, right? And I happen to think these two prints go - you made them work!

I definitely think this print combo works--- but I am pretty sure my husband would react the same way. Seriously though, great look! Sometimes mixing prints feels juvenile, but I don't think that is the case here…...
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern mixing going on, and those sweet little booties.
