There are two specific time periods that I have a slight obsession with: the '20s and the '50s. The history during those decades really piques my interest but I'm (obviously) also obsessed with the fashion during those times, too. Like so many people, I love(d) the film, Grease. One summer, my childhood best friend and I were so obsessed that we sang songs from the movie everyday at summer camp. I'm sure that says a lot.
While I adored the playful and feminine poodle skirts with polo/button-up shirts, I really loved the edgier outfits with the leather/bomber jackets, form-fitting pencil skirts or rolled up denim. This particular look wasn't intentionally meant to channel that past obsession in my life but, it sure worked out that way.
i'm loving this look! i'm also a fan of mid-century style, and i think you would make rizzo proud ;)

Those jeans are the ultimate throw back. They're that perfect blue. None of that pre-distressed jeans, the 50s were all about true-blue denim.

Nancy, you are always so authentic and kind. I appreciate your words and your blogger friendship more than I could ever express to you. Thank you so much for radiating warmth and kindness. It means the world to me. We just have to keep on keeping on and doing what we love!
ReplyDeleteNow about this post! I'm slightly obsessed with different time periods as well :) That's why I LOVE "Midnight in Paris" and the book"The Paris Wife". If you haven't seen/read either, I definitely suggest them! I love your modern interpretation on the edgy styles of grease and the 50s. You look absolutely beautiful and have inspired me to take more outfit inspiration from the past!
xoxo
