Wednesday Whim - Wonderland

For so many of us, photography is a way to capture memories, moments and art. For UK photographer, Kirsty Mitchell, her photography series Wonderland has helped her heal from the death of her mother. This ongoing series began in 2009 and represents the fairy tales her mother used to tell her. The costumes used in the photoshoots have all been hand made (sewn, painted, glued and assembled) and took up to five months to prepare. The time, energy and effort put into each photograph is matched by the patience and devotion by everyone involved for these photographs.

Kirsty Mitchell is now winding down her Wonderland series (currently 68 photos) and she recently announced a collaboration with FX Media who will help film a documentary about her photography journey and the final 10 photos (see a film clip below). While the tragic death of her mother from brain cancer made her feel like her "world fell apart" the resulting motivation and passion towards photography has given her a "second chance."
