Living in San Francisco, or any urban area for that matter, can often mean you're limited in square footage. My husband and I are often reminded of this fact whenever we have guests come over to our place and we turn a corner and bump into someone. When I stumbled upon this feature on a London apartment I was awed by the creative use of space.
By suspending the bed into the air the walking area is dramatically increased without compromising design aesthetics. The bed sits below a retractable glass ceiling that gives access to a 500 sq. ft. rooftop garden. With minimal furniture, neutral colors and access to natural light this London flat looks modern and livable rather than outdated and cramped.
oh wow!! this is really inspirational.. i'd die to have a place like this! looks cosy and the abundance of the natural lights is really awesome.. <3 lovely post :))

With small spaces, you definitely have to get creative. They did a great job.

This would be one amazing place to live! I love this apartment and how they designed it. The suspended bed is such a cool idea :D

I love these interiors! Same here, space is limited in NYC obviously so my apt is pretty tiny. Oh how I lust after gorgeous big interior spaces! This, however, is amazing! I would never have guessed it to be a smaller London space - they really know how to design it well!
ReplyDeleteWoW what a wonderful house!

Omg that suspended bed is so cool. I don't think I could sleep though - I am deathly afraid of heights lol. The design is super modern and definitely looks like it makes the most of limited space. The glass rooftop is a nice touch too.
ReplyDeleteThat is crazy. You wouldn't want to get drunk, go to bed and then try to exit the bed the wrong way! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'm keen on the tub next to the kitchen table, but the overall look of the place is gorgeous.
I'm so proud of myself. Today I prepped a room for painting and also ripped up the carpet and tack board. Reno stuff is exhausting but in the end hopefully I'll have something to be proud of. Since it's my first time doing all of this I'm on the hunt for great interior design ideas. Thanks for this!
bisous

Amazing apartment! Would have loved to live there!! Great and clever use of all space!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Oh dear, seriously, this space is magical!
ReplyDeleteBesides the design itself, just like you said it's so easy to live in there. It creates so much space! Loved it, thanks for the inspiration sweetie!
how interesting! when we lived in new york, we literally lived in a shoebox. no space, no closet space and bathroom and kitchen! now we're in a surburban area and we have LOTS of everything space but i miss living in an urban area. it's a question that stumps us often.. sacrifice space? or sacrifice urban life.. my husband always wins (staying in suburban area) :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful house! I love how the bed is up there, it looks amazing. Definitely gives you good space.

Okay, that bed is insane! Not to rub it in, but going from a Junior studio in the city to a two bedroom in the suburbs, sometimes I feel like I live in a mansion lol. Totally feel your pain though :)
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!!! What a beautifull house!!!
ReplyDeleteI really really love it.
