Work It

Gold polka dot t-shirt: Gap (old), Skirt: Kate Spade via Nordstrom Rack (old), Heels: Zara (try Shoemint!), Accessories: H&M sunglasses (old but spot on similar), La Mer x Target leopard wrap watchAlisa Michelle, Alexis Bittar and vintage bracelets, Curtis Kulig x UO beanie (old)

I'm sure you all can relate to this feeling...looking at your closet and feeling like you have "nothing" to wear. It's really quite absurd to me to feel this way about the clothes I have. Often I feel like I need to purge things out and other times I feel like I can't let certain pieces go. It's such a style dilemma.

I have no other reason for this outfit except that the two pieces I'm wearing (t-shirt and skirt) are polka dots. I was in a rush to leave and realized that even changing out a t-shirt was time consuming! So what else could I do but "make it work."

Do you ever do this?

  1. I'm seriously about to go out and buy those shoes from Zara. Every time I see a post where you're wearing them I am convinced the universe is throwing them in my face because I'm meant to have them haha. I am also a HUGE fan of polka dots and the fact that you're doubling them up makes me squeal in delight.

But you keep proving you have some awesome clothes to work with. Especially with those heels. Showstoppers right there <3

  4. I've always wanted a tee with gold polka dots on it. I couldn't find one, so I made on last week. Actually, the DIY will be on my blog tomorrow. How weird is that?! I might have to make DIY a skirt with pink ones next!

  5. I was reading this book on style lately and under the heading "Ten Things to Toss Now," it said that you should throw out polka dotted items bc they are fast-fading fads that make you look juvenile. I think they're COMPLETELY wrong! I adore polka dots and know that they've been sticking around for the last while now.

And I must say that despite your misgivings, you look absolutely amazing in your polka dot outfit! I also love those sunnies and those heels :)

Thanks for dropping by my blog earlier! Would you like to follow each other on Bloglovin' and GFC? Let me know on my blog :)

  6. Can I just say how great this look is?! Solid proof that beanies (which I personally love, but am not always able to pull off) can be worn in a chic way! Love it!

  14. LOVE the double dots. It looks intentionally savvy, like you knew it would be fab! I think it's the heels that tie everything together.

  17. I always feel like that and I think I've come to the conclusion that it's because we blog. We have to think of something new all the time and so it gets us crazy thinking about what to wear. I love the mix of polka dots in this outfit. So cute! <3

  18. You have the magic touch Nancy - If I try to put an outfit together in a rush, it would never look this good. I have a very similar skirt that's yellow with pink dots that has never been worn. I may have to try this look but I have a feeling I won't look as cool as you do.

  20. Well, it definitely works! Sometimes some of my best outfits are made when in a rush, because I think less about them. It's more of a "spur of the moment" kind of thing. You look great, Nancy!

    Have a great day!
