City Gal

Jacket: H&M Icons collection, Shirt: H&M Kids, Jeans: Forever 21, Heels: Sole Society, Accessories: SF Giants hat from Lids, J.Crew necklace, Jimmy Choo x H&M and ily couture bracelets, Casio watch, Clare Viver clutch

I've always grown up in a city environment so I will always consider myself a city gal. My parents lived in a suburb before but it was still so close to the city that I never hung out in my own neighborhood. My husband on the other hand experienced life in the city and the suburb and he always talks about the pros/cons of both lifestyles. There's no doubt the quieter and more family-appropriate suburban life has its pros but I just love the culture and energy from the city life. I love living close to various museums, different restaurants, different neighborhoods and different people. I was exposed to this my whole life that only when I began to visit other cities and suburbs outside of the Bay Area as a teenager did I realize everyone doesn't live like this. It was a surprise but not one that bothered me. I enjoyed the fact that I had such variety in my life.

How about you? Do you have a preference for city life vs. suburban life?

  2. I've only lived in the city as an adult, but I have always fancied myself as a city girl at heart too. There's so much more going on! I love your city girl look too!

  5. I've always lived in big cities. I lived in the suburbs for a time but I just can't do it - it's too small!

I adore your jacket and your shoes! Such an edgy-glam combination!

  6. I am so in love with this look, love the leather jacket with the polka dots!!
I live in a small city (50,000 people) adjacent to a big city (1 million) and it's honestly the best of both worlds, it's barely a 15 minute drive (in the summer, not winter) to the best parts of city life!

  13. There are definitely pros and cons of both. I think it depends on your situation. For the most part I'm a city girl. If I had a family I would want to live in the suburbs. Love that jacket and your shoes Nancy...SHARP!

  14. OBVIOUSLY, you know I'm dying to experience life in the fast-lane, haha! I agree, suburbs are great for families but I want to live in a big, busy city while I'm young so I can say that I've had the experience!

I love your jacket by the way! I've been looking to replace the one that I have because it's falling apart.. :(

  15. Cool outfit! I grew up in the suburbs, but I love only 40 minutes from NYC, so it's kind of like living in both worlds. I love being in NYC and the energy of it, but at the end of the day it's nice to go home to a quiet, relaxing place.

  16. Having variety in your life is something I envy! I've always wished I'd grown up in that kind of surrounding. Being connected to so much and having that opportunity is awesome.

  25. I grew up in the suburbs and I love the idea of city life. I think it works for those who are younger and don't have kids. Only because I like the fact that my son can ride his bike without being hit by cars and when you're younger you can sit down in a cafe and read a good book and experience the night life. It definitely has its pros/cons.

I love this urban look! That leather jacket is phenomenal! <3

  29. I grew up in a very small village in Sweden with limited access to restaurants etc but with gorgeous nature around the corner. Being a student, I loved the city life and the variety it had to offer but now with two small kids, I do appreciate the quiet life in the suburbs but within the reach of what the city life has to offer!

  33. The jacket is awesome--total love. I'm more of a suburban girl because I love the space and living in a house, but I do love the ability to walk out your door and easily go to so many places, which only comes with city life.
