Gokhun Guneyhan has taken the photos he took all over Europe and overlaid unique fonts over them to convey a different vibe that coincides with the city's personality. The photos almost feel like film clips to me. They definitely tell a story in each frame. Seeing this series reminds me of how important imagery is to a viewer and how it can set the theme for content.

As many of you know, I have a special spot for photography. It's a wonderful form of art and a person can only get better the more he/she practices and uses a camera. But, I also have a special spot for typography. I love all types of lettering and its graphic appeal. As a kid, I was obsessed with calligraphy! It looks so beautiful. So when I came across this Visual News article on Turkey-based artist, Gokhun Guneyhan, it was a match made in heaven!

I really love this post, because I'm starting to do the same for my photos (not blog photos obviously, but the photography I do outside of outfit photos lol). I love the typography he adds - it captures the spirit of the location he's at! Just perfectly inspiring <3

Wonderful pictures! I've been to some of the places (Amsterdam, Paris) so these pictures are nice to see.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love the combination of these as well! I'm trying to get more into photography; I'm intimidated by my camera so I need to just get out there and start practicing. Seeing these motivated me.

Those photos are stunning! I love the typography with it. Funny, I never used to like text on photos because I thought it took away from the photo itself, but I now love the added interest. Just last week I installed an app to be able to add text to my instagram photos.

Love this, never seen it before.
ReplyDeleteI do like this since I'm such a huge font nerd - someday I'm going to get my rear into gear and purchase a font subscription so I can play with all the funky fonts out there
ReplyDeleteOH! I love this, especially since a lot of his work that you are showing is in France. I love type + photos, but my old photo teacher hated it. I've always thought it's a great challenge
