Wednesday Whim - Savage Beauty

For so many, Alexander McQueen was a brilliant designer.  His collections were eclectic and were the ideal in interpreting the mix of strength and delicacy.  His designs will live on and will most certainly be referenced by so many emerging talents.  Although I obviously had no connection to him, when I learned of his death I was so saddened that I couldn't help but peruse numerous photo galleries of his creations.  His death was so tragic that I still feel pains to think about it.

Unless you have avoided people, you would otherwise know the Metropolitan Museum in New York featured a fabulous collection of his work.  Sadly, August 7 was the last day of the exhibit but before the doors closed, hundreds of people waited hours in line to see his work.  {Check out records broken and other facts here}

If New York was closer, I would have loved to have seen the exhibit, but I otherwise paid tribute by purchasing the book, Savage Beauty, published in conjunction with the exhibit {gladly purchased when I visited the Balenciaga and Spain exhibit at the de Young Museum}.  The book is gorgeous and I am so grateful to have added it to my collection.

What do you think of McQueen's work?  Were you lucky enough to have seen the McQueen exhibit?
