With the joyful holiday season nearing the end, many people are hustling to finish shopping for last-minute gifts or shopping for the first time because they just waited too long. I've seen so many ideas for last-minute items that some may not pay attention to the wrapping! Often, it's the last thing on anyone's mind, so I thought I would dedicate some refreshing ideas on wrapping those sought-after gifts. I perused good ol' Martha Stewart for some suggestions (despite one's personal opinion--the woman is definitely crafty). I know I need this since I have a whole stack of presents that still need wrappin'!
For all my fellow crafty friends out there--why not put your stamps to good use? Take some plain wrapping and create your own winter pattern. It's so simple, yet so beautiful! For an additional spin, take your embosser and emboss the patterns on the paper! It'll look even classier!
I know I have a plethora of colorful newspaper prints that could be put to good use, as well as some old maps from my travels that are no longer of use to me. Since I have enough of a collection for keepsake value, I can use the leftovers for wrapping!
For the greener side of things, I love these ideas of using cloth to wrap gifts OR taking that empty potato chip bag and flipping it inside out (after washing it, of course) to wrap. The next person can use it to wrap another gift and so can the next, and so can the next... It's the wrapping that keeps on wrapping!
To expand on this idea, I also like the thought of buying reusable shopping bags so the gift recipient can use it on his/her next shopping expedition, much like you see above from Envirosax. The company even provides a nice video of how it can be done! Check that out!
If you are with child(ren), then you probably have plenty of kid art around the home. This is such a unique spin on wrapping paper.
As many of you now know about me, I cannot help but love the paper-bag material for wrapping. I am all over this one. Wrap it up with some colorful yarn or threaded ribbon and you will be set!
So, while the old adage is to not "judge a book by it's cover," there's no harm in taking some extra time and care to wrap a gift for someone you adore. After all, you spent all that time (maybe) choosing the gift! Happy wrapping, everyone!
