This weekend, the husband and I hosted our first dinner "party" at our home. It wasn't fancy or anything but, it made me feel like such a grown-up! It was great to have a couple of friends over and just relax. While it's always a treat to go out, being at home can be just as fun...and much less expensive!
In our attempt to be good and polite hosts, the husband and I ran several errands beforehand to ensure the experience would be enjoyable. This outfit was the best thing for me to wear since most items were a darker color palette (except for the sky blue jacket, of course). I'm such a fast-paced person that sometimes I can also be pretty klutzy *i.e. I could totally drop things on myself making my clothes feel the consequences.* I grabbed fresh flowers a day early (I usually get them on Sundays), some beverages that we knew our guests would enjoy (they loved that special treat!), ingredients for easy-to-make appetizers and we chose a very straightforward recipe from The Kinfolk Table as our main course. Everything was simple in execution but, perfect for a small gathering. All in all, we felt pretty proud of our hosting gig.
How was your weekend?
Oooh, fun outfit! I love that blazer. And it sounds like a great dinner party! I've only hosted a few in the past year, but they're really fun. Those fresh flowers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSuper chic outfit! Love your hat and blazer!
ReplyDeleteA dinner party sounds like so much fun! We don't have a ton of space in my apartment, but my roommate and I have hosted a few little gatherings and they've been fun. LOVE your blue leather jacket.
ReplyDeleteI went to a dinner party this weekend and it was fabulous! We were all telling stories and laughing until almost midnight! I can't wait until I have my own space so I can host my own dinner parties!

Good job! I have cooked dinner for my friends, but I've never actually had a "dinner party." I really want to! I think you picked an excellent outfit. You had to be the hostess and cook so you definitely needed the dark colors and the comfortableness.

High five to dinner parties! Good for you, lady. We're still working on that ....
ReplyDeleteLOVE the jacket. i love hosting get togethers, but it can be overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time with friends. My friends and I are planning to rotate dinner on the weekends in the summer so the kids can play. I am hoping to do a different theme each month and the host makes the main course and each guest bring a side dish. I really like this outfit - the jacket is amazing - the stitching details are awesome. I am like you and tend to spill on myself all the time.
