all images via Fong Qi Wei via Tumblr
My obsession with artists who can use flowers as a medium for art is clearly not over. In my recent stumble upon Singapore-based artist, Fong Qi Wei, I found his work incredibly inspiring. He created several art pieces for his Floral Paintings series while working on a previous series, Exploded Flowers, where he broke up each component of a flower to create a whole image.
In his Floral Paintings series, he creates "paintings" from various components of various flowers and the resulting images (whether it's the Chinese zodiac, floral portraits, or even a recreation of a Van Gogh painting) are nothing short of amazing.
Fong Qi Wei clearly has a knack for visual art but reading his thoughts about the expanding definition of art in today's technical world is just as interesting. You can read it on his Tumblr here. He also sells selected works for limited editions prints here.
Flowers used as a medium are always pretty. I love the butterfly and sunflower design. So pretty.

ReplyDeleteOh wow! these are so beautiful! the one with the wave is absolutely gorgeous
ReplyDeleteWhat I love is that the beauty of the artwork is that it is fleeting. Eventually the flowers will wilt and the image will be gone. That is the beauty of nature.
