The art in itself is unique and aesthetically interesting to look at but what really fascinates me is the ability to turn a mistake into success. As Melanie states,
You've probably heard the saying, "don't cry over spilled milk." Well, in this case don't weep over paint either. LA-native artist, Melanie Rothschild, began a series in 2007 called Paint and Air featuring the art of spilled paint. The pieces came about as a result of an accident. Melanie spilled a gallon of paint one day and rather than dealing with a lot of liquid to sop up she waited until it dried to peel it off the floor. Much to her surprise, the paint peeled off in one piece rather than in multiple pieces.
The art in itself is unique and aesthetically interesting to look at but what really fascinates me is the ability to turn a mistake into success. As Melanie states,
The way we think about mistakes can play a pivotal role in how we experience life. We miss out on so much potential when we obsess about mistakes in all things. Understanding which things require perfection and when the freedom from worrying about mistakes can greatly enhance our lives is critical.

ReplyDeleteThis is so cool. Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've seen another take on this by a Canadian artist. That is the brilliant thing about acrylic...it's plastic.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine how much paint they go through? Kind of cool though. Especially the one that looks like it is on a clothesline drying.
